Activities and buildings are based on archaeological evidence from a range of periods including the Neolithic, Iron Age (Celtic), Viking, Roman and Anglo Saxon eras. Children and adults who visit perform tasks which are integral to the successful continuance of the centre. Staff and volunteers are currently building a Viking Longhouse which will provide residential accommodation for a class of children, university groups or special interest adult groups.

- Saturday 22nd May at 7:30pm: ‘Kingdom
of the Heart’ storytelling with Katy Cawkwell Through
a hole in the ground and an opening of the mind lies a land that's visible to
those who know how to look - a restless king, an enchanted princess, a talking
horse and the youngest son of twelve. Katy
Cawkwell binds together a couple of rare wondertales, bringing their enticing,
uncompromising worlds to life with her usual clarity of image and absorbing
narrative pace. (audience

‘Tales
from the world of MeZolith’ – Storytelling with Ben Haggarty One hour of stories for children to accompany the graphic novel ‘MeZolith’ by Ben Haggarty (with extraordinary art by Adam Brockbank) about a conjectural vision of life in preinsular Britain about 8000 BCE. - Ben’s interest in the mesolithic was directly inspired by the Ancient Technology Centre! Bring along a picnic and enjoy the Centre before the show. Tickets: £5 for children (under 16’s) and adults – suitable from age 8;

in conjunction with the Festival
of British Archaeology 2010 Two
days in which the public can come and enjoy the reconstructed historic buildings
including the finished Viking Longhouse and see what life was like in the past.
Viking re-enactors will inhabit the site for the weekend providing an
insight into Viking crafts and lifestyle. Food
will be available: BBQ, selection of homemade cakes and pastries as well as
other refreshments.Tickets available on the door: £5.00 for adults, £2.50 for
children and concessions, Free to YAC members.
