  Verwood Basket Making.

Note that this article was originally written in 1968 by Mrs. Pam Reeks.

Mr. H. Bailey was an electrician by trade before he became very blind. He is a talented, self—taught organist; but did not find that music completely filled his darkening world.   His wife persuaded him to take up basket work and helped by an association for the blind, he made a start.

He has made marvellous progress and has devised his own methods for doing neat work.   He makes shopping baskets, trays and plant—pot holders with wooden bases.

Mr. Bailey has been doing basket work for just over three years and during that time he has won several awards in the "Dorset Art and Craft Exhibitions" at Bryanston School at Blandford.
